I've tried restoring at a previous restore point, also at a point before
that, also a point after that. I've tried stopping and restarting system
restore. I've tried running sfc /scannow. Computer isn't acting right. I run
my Zone Alarm everyday, everything seems ok there. (which has spyware
included)
What next? With another option to try, give me step by step. I'm a beginner.
Using windows xp

Hi

Try reinstalling System Restore. Open Windows Explorer and go to the
windows\inf folder. In the right hand pane, find the sr.inf file, right
click on it and select Install.

I am running Win xp home and am having the same problem as the previous
poster. For the life of me I cannot find the windows/inf folder. I have run
a search and cannot find the sr.inf file either. Anybody any more
suggestions please?

Hi

From Start>Run type

%systemroot%\inf

then click on 'name' and see the sr.inf file is visible then.

Hi,

There are several reasons this may occur. Let's take a look at Event
Viewer for any System Restore logs that may have been created recently
that may help us diagnosing the problem.

Go to Start - Run and type eventvwr.msc and press enter.
Click on System in the left pane.
Click the gray title "Source" at the top of the source name column in
the right pane to sort by source name, look for "sr" and "srservice".
Double click on each of these events, then click on the button below the
two arrows in the upper right corner. This will copy the event
information to the clipboard. Paste the information for each of the two
event here. There's no need to post duplicate Event ID's.

How do I use the Event Viewer to search for System Restore logs?
