Somehow, I don't know how - maybe sloppy too-fast typing,
I managed to name
a folder so that it had a period (.) at the end of the
file name. The name
of the folder now shows as "Sarah2." in windows explorer.
I can not select
the file in the left-hand folder tree pane - when I try,
I just get an error
message about that location being unavailable. I can
select it when it's in
the right-hand pane, but can't open it (error about
location being
unavailable) or drag it to trash (error: Cannot delete
file: Cannot read
from the source file or disk), or rename it (same error).
In a DOS window
opened on the level just above this folder, I can see the
folder as
"Sarah2.", but cannot rename it or delete it either. (it
just things the
thing is a file, because of the period, and says 'File
Not Found'.

How can I get rid of this folder??? (I don't care what's
in the folder.)

thanks for any help

You can't create a folder called 'Sarah2.' because the period would delete.
You can't have called it 'Sarah2. " either as the space would delete as
would the stop after it.
Try opening My computer and selecting directories down to it then delete it.
Don't use Explorer. Or you could click on Open file in any program and
search for All files. When you find it try deleting it.
One other point how recently did you create this folder. If you created it
this session then reboot and then delete it.

Well I was able to create you exact problem, and an interesting one at that.

I too was unable to delete, either from Explorer(and yes, "My Computer" uses
explorer) or from the command shell.

But I then used "rm" from the Services For Unix and it is now toast(gone).

Not sure what you can do at this point. If you are want to explore the
"rm" solution, you can try here but you need to be able to use a command
shell which is a thing of the past for most users.

Good luck.
