How to erase previous Complete PC backup?

I made a CompletePC backup onto an external USB hard drive. I see the
WindowsImageBackup folder and the .vhd file in there.

How do you properly erase the old backup? Can I just delete this entire
directory to take a new backup? I dont want to do an incremental, it wastes
space.

The reason I ask is because I tried to rename the WindowsImageBackup folder
and all the files, but it still says there is an existing backup.

Hi, what do you mean by "it still says there is an existing backup."? Is
this an error message or something else? Post a screenshot if you can.

In the Control Panel component for backup it says 'last backup was
1/20/2007'. Also when you click backup and it asks which drive to use, it
again says when the last backup was. (despite the fact I renamed the backup
directory and files)
