how to enter date without using "/" each time?

How do I enter a date in a cell without having to push the "/" between the
month, day, and year?

If you just don't like that character, use the dash (-) instead. Anything
else is probably more complicated and time consuming than it's worth. Excel
needs to know where to 'draw the line' between day, month & year.
