How to do configuration for cable ethernet?

Small LAN. My computer was connected to other provider, via DSL Modem
(SpeedStream), in my absence.
Before I had connecting through cable Ethernet. After testing new provider I
would like to come back to cable Ethernet. Since all new configuration was
done without my participation, I will have difficulties to reconfigure
settings back to cable. How to do this configuration for cable ethernet?

We need more details to connect the cable ethernet.


How do you connect the cable interent unit to the PC? By a router? By USB?
Or directly by Ethernet?
