Do you mean as a wallpaper background? To do that you would need to convert
it to a graphical image. The trial version of SnagIt will do that. Print the
document to the SnagIt driver with the output option set to jpg or bmp. Then
right click the desktop > properties > desktop and browse to select your
saved image.

On Vista, you can use the Snipping Tool to capture the screen image of the
word document and save it as a .jpg file. Then personalize the Desktop
background with the jpeg graphic.

Does the snipping tool capture the parts of the document not displayed on
screen? For that you need a scrolling capture tool ... like SnagIt.

Hi Graham,

The snipping tool has some nice features (screenshots of the dialogs here)
http://lifehacker.com/software/windows-vista-tip-take-screenshots-with-the-snipping-tool-228885.php
but I don't recall that is has all of the features of http://snagit.com such as scrolling capture.

It is certainly a step in the right direction, but invariably Word documents
at a readable scale are only going to be partially displayed. If you zoom to
display the whole page then the screen capture will be small and bitmaps
don't scale up well. My point was not that Vista didn't have a useful
capture utility, but that it couldn't scroll to reveal the part of the page
off screen. :)

The is no contradiction here. You presented a method; I added a Vista
variation.
In retrospect I would:
Set Word 2007 to Full Screen Reading > [Print Screen] > paste to Paint >
save as .jpg > set as Desktop background.
