In previous versions of Windows TweakUI there was a Privacy entry
where one could set the CD *not* to start any programs on insertion.
But on the TweakUI for XP it seems to have been removed.
And rightclicking the CD drive and selecting properties/Autoplay does
not help either. In that tab you can select how to treat various kinds
of CD:s, but not how to stop a data CD from starting the autoplay
program. :-(
Is there a solution to this?
Example:
Today I went to Add/Remove Programs in the Windows components section
to enable IIS on my new XP Pro machine. After I had selected the
components I needed and clicked next there was a message telling me to
insert the XPPro CD. Apparently it needed some files from the CD.
But when I did so the autoplay on the CD started and brought up a
"welcome" screen.... Ridiculous really!
Not even Microsoft can handle this properly....
