How to Diagnose Sluggish XP Performance

I have installed and uninstalled a video program... Easy
Video Capture. Now, everything runs sluggish and herkie-
jerkie. When looking at Task Manager, under Processes,
and sorting by CPU, System Idle Process used to hover
around 98%. Now it hovers at 60% - 75%. Is there a
diagnostics program that can see if something in Windows
got damaged during the install/uninstall of the software.

I have a Athlon processor, 2.something Ghz and 1 gig of
RAM. Thanks, CW
