I disagree strongly. Like any major upgrade, especially one that changes
the user interface quite a bit, it will take some getting used to. But I
found Excel 2007 to be very intuitive and easy to figure out, especially
if you have been a user of previous versions.
My guess is that you just didn't want to take the time to try and learn
the new version, and are now coming here asking help before even making a
basic effort on your own. The questions you asked could have been easily
answered simply by clicking on the "Help" button and typing in a query.
Sadly, your guess is wrong.
I actually work in software support (as a highly-paid engineer

so I have
some informed opinions. I use Excel daily at my office, very rigorously. I
use this new version on my "new" (year old) personal home computer; it
doesn't get as much use as my office copy (2003) does but it is a regular
aggravation and impediment to my productivity to constantly wonder "now
where's that function got off to". I have my 2003 version highly customized
with my own menus and toolbars. This configuration is not possible (at
least, not practical for mere mortals) with the Ribbon. Amongst
engineering-types who actually try to get some work done this new interface
does not seem to have won rave reviews.
Re: the Help, for 20 years the standard has been Help -> About to get an
inkling of what software you have. That works in software from just about
any vendor! Now suddenly it has to be changed? What an impediment to
productivity is what I say.
I have used Excel since version 3.0 and love it. I love using VBA. But this
latest version?
