How to delete horozontal lines

When I start a bullet list, unwanted horozontal lines pop up. How can I
prevent or delete these lines? Thanks.

Reset the built-in bullet formats. In Word 97-2003, click Format | Bullets
and Numbering. On the Bullet tab, click the Reset button for each of the
bullet formats.

If you are using Word 2007, exit Word and then delete the ListGal.dat file
in your user profile (make sure to display hidden files in Windows Explorer;
otherwise you probably won't find the file). When you restart Word, settings
are back to factory defaults.
