How to delete a footer--No "delete button"

Chad Harris

MOS 03 on Win XP SP2 Box.

I wanted to delete a footer. I used MS Word's help and got directions to do
what is below. The problem is there is no delete button anywhere on that
footer toolbar after you hit switch between header and footer to get to it.
At least I don't see a delete button anywhere on that toolbar.

To remove the header and footer from a section of the document, do the
following:

1.. On the View menu, click Header and Footer.
2.. If necessary, click Show Previous or Show Next on the Header and
Footer toolbar (toolbar: A bar with buttons and options that you use to
carry out commands. To display a toolbar, press ALT and then SHIFT+F10.) to
move to the header or footer that you want to delete.
Note Make sure that the Link to Previous button is not activated in the
section or in the following section, or all of your headers and footers will
be removed even if you separated the document into sections.

3.. In the header or footer area, select the text and graphics, and then
press DELETE.
Thanks,

Chad Harris

Hi Chad,

They meant the Delete key on the keyboard, not anything on the toolbar. This
is just like deleting text or graphics anywhere else in the document -- the
only difference being that you need some extra steps to get to the proper
footer in order to select its text.
