How to delete a duplicate Excel worksheet within that worksheet?

I have somehow created an identical duplicate "mirror" copy of an entire
Worksheet within that same Worksheet.
Does anyone know, first, how this happened and, secondly, how to get rid of
it?

There are 8 columns actually used, but the Worksheet is infinite, and so is
the "mirror"; ie, in the original, I can scroll across as many columns as I
like, and this just pushes across duplicate column A; and likewise, in the
duplicate, I can scroll across indefinitely.
I should have added originally that whenever I select a cell for any
purpose, the same cell on the duplicate is selected; and whatever I do in
that cell (eg, enter data, delete, whatever) is simaltaneously repeated in
the duplicate cell.

I'm sorry, I haven't explained this very well. The duplicate is kind of
like a window tiled vertically, but it's not. What it seems to be is an
identical copy which slides horizontally over the top of the original. I can
drag it back and forth almost to the left hand side of the screen or almost
to the right hand side, then work on the original by clicking across
horizontally so that it slides out from under the duplicate. I can also work

Do you see something like: Book1.xls:1 and Book1.xls:2 in the title bars?

If yes, then you haven't duplicated any worksheets. But you have opened a
second window into that same workbook.

If you want to close one, just click on it and hit ctrl-w

Remember to save the workbook before you close--else you'll be doing it again.
