How to Define things in the Process Window of Task Manger

I have something flashing in the background of my desktop and I can't define what it is. It's very annoying. I went to Task manger to see if something was open under Applications and nothing is open. I then looked at the Tab called Processes and the list in there is quite long. I think if I could eliminate some of the itmes in there it would help, but I don't have a clue what needs to be there and what doesn't. I started to do a search on each item and it got too confusing.

Can anyone help me determine what needs to run and what can be stopped? I used Hypersnap to catch a picture of these files so I could try to figure it out.

I appreciate any help you can give.
