How to create multiple software profiles for XP Pro

I have laptop users that travel frequently. When logged onto the 2K
domain at work, they have their proxy information set via policy. When
they travel, however, that same policy interferes with their ability to
connect to a hotel broadband service and use the internet. What I would
like to do is give them multiple application settings, one for when they
are docked (forcing them to use the proxy to access the internet), and
one for when they are undocked (IE will have no proxy entry). Is this
possible?

I know how to create multiple *hardware* profiles, but changes to IE in
one hardware profile carries over to the other hardware profile. Any
help would be greatly appreciated.

TIA,
hbchrist

Thanks for the article links. However, we do not use roaming profiles
nor are we interested in doing so. Does this article still hold in that
circumstance?

Thanks,
