Hello,

How is it possible to copy an open database to make a backup. For example
when the user goes to close the database a backup is made.
I have tried using , in vb, filecopy( ) , however it comes back with a file
permissions error because the file i am trying to copy ( i.e. the database
that the code is executed from) is open.

Cheers

It isn't, at least not safely. Any open database is likely to be in an
inconsistent state (if the user/one of the users is updating
something); a copy runs a great risk of being corrupt.

It's best to make your backups (by simply copying the .mdb file) when
everyone is OUT of the database and Access is not running. You can
create an icon to run a simple batch copy.
