how to control outgoing email return addresses?

To help reduce confusion, let me list my accts in a generic fashion ....

email addy 1: my primary acct used to receive emails from trusted ppl &/or
businesses; for now, let's also refer to this acct as the 'default'
email addy 2: used for online sites that answer questions, typically 'how
to' manipulate my comp to do specific things (like I'm trying to do now)
email addy 3: to be used if someone wants to send me only pix
eamil addy 4: used for aquaintences (sp?)
email addy 5: used for job related events - sending cover ltrs & resumes,
receiving responses

Is there a way/method/rule to ensure that the "from" addy is based on the
particular email acct from which an email originated rather than the primary
email addy showing up as the "from" addy in ALL of my accts?

Addy 1 appears to be the default return email addy because it appears in the
'from' window in all my emails, regardless of which acct it was sent, which
is what I do NOT want. In other words, when I send an email out from Addy 2,
in the "from" box I want "addy 2" listed, not the default, "addy 1". As you
may surmise, if someone types in "addy 2," it will indeed be directed to the
subfolder Addy 2. When someone "replys" to my email, it will always go into
my primary addy 1, which I only want a few ppl/business to have.

FYI: In outlook, under the general folder inbox, I have subfolders for all
5 accts & a 'rule' in place for each so that when I receive incoming email,
which initially comes into the inbox, the emails are then transferred to
their respective subfolders.

Eagerly awaiting some 'how-to' answers!

When you send an e-mail out and you want to use Address 2, you should choose
Address 2 from the Accounts dropdown box on your toolbar. Is this not
working for you?

Jocelyn,

Thank you for your response. Justed wanted you to know that the feature
does work .... I just didn't understand its purpose 'til now. Yea, I love a
simple answer, & double bonus that the solution is already in place! ;-)

I am having this exact problem, but I do not understand the solution. Where
is the accounts button that you are referring to? I am using Outlook 2000.

Outlook 2000 doesn't have an Accounts button. If you are using Outlook 2000
in Internet Mail Only mode, click the Send button (or the arrow next to it --
I can't remember) and choose your sending account from there.

I have the same problem, but I don't always check the return email address
before I send things along.

Why should Outlook put anything in the return address other than what I have
set as a default?

How do I make sure that the default address is always in the return slot
without having to constanttly check to see of Outlook has done what I ask of
it?
