How to configure remote assistance to work via dial up

K

Kevin

I have configured an incoming connection and have TCP/IP
and IPX/SPX installed.

I can connect successfully via IPX/SPX with some tweeking
of the settings but TPC/IP still gives me an error... I can
accept the connection and try to do a remote access session
fron there but...

I cannot ping the machine I have connected to either by
name or ip nor can remote access see it or browse any
machines.....

I have come up empty as far as a usefull configuration
guide online and help is useless.

Help?

Remote Assistance will not work over an IPX connection...

By dialup, are you dialing into the system using Incoming Connections?

Are you certain of the IP of the machine you are connecting to?

Is the firewall active on the Incoming connection? If so (this isn't
totally crazy) you can configure the firewall settings to allow in Remote
Desktop, and on the ICMP tab, let it respond to pings if you desire.

It can be useful to configure IP properties of the Incoming connection to
give out a specfic range of, say, 4 ip addresses, rather than letting them
auto-configure.
