Does anyone have any suggestions on how to clear window's clipboard memory?
will window's clipboard only keep one thing at a time?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions

Yes...one at a time and each new item replaces the last.

Just copy a space or unprintable character into it.

Why do you want to do it? One way to get rid of what's there is simply
to copy something else.

will window's clipboard only keep one thing at a time?

Yes.

In Word it keeps loads of stuff. A very handy version of the old 'spike'.

And you can delete it there too.

Also, when you shut down you often get a message asking if you want to keep
what's on the clipboard.

And there is ccleaner too.

Look for a copy of "clipbrd.exe" on your C: drive.

That is a special Word clipboard, not the standard Windows clipboard.
As I said, the standard Windows clipboard only keeps one thing at a
time.

Besides what Word has, there are many other third-party clipboard
programs that can save multiple things. However Eric's question was
about the Windows clipboard.

Yes.

I just found out that I have no clipbrd.exe, yet I can still save
screens.

Interesting.

The clipboard viewer is not necessary for the clipboard feature to
function. But to add Clipboard Viewer, open Control Panel, Add/Remove
Programs, Add/Remove Windows Components, double-click "Accessories and
Utilities", double-click "Accessories" and add a check to the box left
of "Clipboard Viewer".

Three points:

1. Despite what many people often say, clipbrd.exe is *not* the
clipboard. The clipboard is not a program, it is just the place in RAM
where what is clipped is stored. Clipboard.exe is the clipboard
*viewer*.

2. Although some people find the clipboard viewer useful, personally I
never use it. If I want to know what's in the clipboard, I find it
much easier just to paste it (and if I don't like it, I can easily
delete what I pasted).

3. If you want the clipboard viewer, see Elmo's reply in this thread,
and follow his advice.

I agree with you.

All someone has to do is a Shift-Insert to see what's in memory.
