It'll take less time to just replace it than check it,
particularly for an intermittant problem. They only cost
$25 , or just borrow one from a friend for a day. Other
than that, yellow wires are 12 volts, red are 5 volts,
black is ground, and the bid connector on the motherboard
is a mystery to me.
