How to check drives

I need to find out whether my computer has a partitioned drive, or two
separate drives, but I don't know how to check this.

Help would be great.

From Start>Run type

diskmgmt.msc

On the following screen you will see how your system is made up - including
any partitions, if present.

Hi Will,

Thank you for replying.

When I followed your suggestion, I'm afraid I didn't understand the
information

C= partition basic Disc 0 Basic NTFS

F= partition basic Disc 1 Basic NTFS

The fact they both say 'partition' but give a different disc number is a bit
muddling.

Could you please let me know what is what!

Hi Canna

That means you have two disks. If either are partitioned this will be shown
to the left of 'Disc 0' and 'Disc 1'. If a single 'box' is shown to the
left, then neither disk has been partitioned. If the first 'box' for each
drive, what do you see in brackets under the drive letter - could be
'(System)' for example?

What do you see in Windows Explorer regarding 'C' and 'F'?

Hi Will,

Both in the Disk Management section and in Windows Explorer, both drives are
shown as having just one disc each. To the left of the letter designating
each drive is a single rectangle. One to the left of C and one to the left
of F.

In the Disk Management section, at the bottom, under (C) it says 9.54 GB
NTFS Healthy (system)
Under (F) it says 9.44 GB NTFS Healthy (Active)

Hi Canna

So, you have 2 disks, neither of which are partitioned. Although, both of
the disks seem a bit small. You might like to consider installing a larger
hard disk in the near future.
