How to change the existing profile to your old profile in XP pro

I installed Windows XP Media center on my computer that was running XP
pro earlier.

Initially when I was trying to install the Media center I was having
some problems, so what I did I changed the BIOS setting to boot from
the CD and took this approach to install the media center.

Now when everything came up I see a fresh new desktop. Although, all my
files etc. are there on the C: drive but I think in this process got a
new profile created.

How can I go back to my previous profile so that can see all my old
settings and also use Media center at the same time.

Also, advise.. how can I get this new profile deleted from my computer,
so that I use only one

Thanks

You're doing this backwards. Use the new profile and copy the data and
settings from the old one to it. Here's how:

HOW TO Create and Configure User Accounts in Windows XP -

After you get the new profile set up the way you like, you can delete
the old profile. If the old user account doesn't show up in the User
Accounts Control Panel applet, you can just delete the files under
Documents and Settings.

Thanks for sending me the solution.

But I am still having problems..... in creating a profile.. I may be
doing something stupid.

I was trying to follow the steps mentioned in Article 811151 on how to
create a profile by selecting Control Panel > Advanced etc. but when I
follow that path I don't see Advanced option as mentioned in the
article.

Then I followed the artilce 279783 to create a user account and I
created named New_profile. But when I have to perform the copy paste
task I should see this under C:\Document and Settings. But I don't see
New Profile account.

This new accoutn has administrator rights.

Please help

Thanks

1. Go to the User Accounts applet in Control Panel. Make a new user
account - this is the one you are calling "New_profile" so you've
already done this step.

2. Log into "New_profile" once. Now you will be able to see its folders
under Documents and Settings.

3. You need a minimum of three user accounts for the copying process
because you must now log into an account with administrative privileges
that is *not* the one you want to copy *from* and is *not* the one you
want to copy *to*. So now log into this third account and do the
copying per the Knowledge Base article.
