How to change System info in My Computer Properties

N

noahfazer

I know about changing the registered to name and such in my computer
properties, but does anyone know how to change the "System:"
information? For example, on my machine, it looks like this:
System:
Microsoft Windows XP
Professional
Version 2002
Service Pack 2

How can I change that to something different?

Thanks

I'm really not sure what you're after....this information reflects the
version & SP level of Windows you have installed, so unless you somehow
change *that*, it's going to stay as it is.

I did a complete Vista transformation (purchased windowblinds, changed
the system sounds, startup/shutdown, login screen, etc), and that is
the only info left that says windows xp on my system.

Let's not be silly. You may have skinned your XP system to look like
Vista but it is still XP. I don't know how you could change that
information but even if you could, you shouldn't. It is vital
information that you - or anyone repairing your computer in the future -
will need and they will need the *real* information.

I know I still have XP, thats why I said I did a Vista transformation
- if I had installed Vista I would have said "I installed Vista". I do
the only maintenance and repairs on my computer. But, apparently this
"thread" is going nowhere, can a mod please delete it? Thanks

You have received appropitate replies - regarding your statement
"...apparently this "thread" is going nowhere,..." - it's not the newsgroup
with the problem - once more: XP is installed (fact) on your computer and
System Information is based on "facts" - there is no mod.

This is a Usenet newsgroup, not a moderated forum.

But if he wants to sell it as an installed Vista system...

I'm not planning on selling it, but thanks for sticking up for me. And
yeah I know that I got replies as to my question, but a simple yes or
no and a quick explanation if anyone had one would have been fine; I
didn't expect to get shot down for skinning my system. So even if this
page isn't moderated, there has to be way to delete the page, right?

No. It's a Usenet Newsgroup. You happen to be accessing it through the web
interface, but that doesn't change what it is. It can't be deleted.

Oops, I see you're using Google Groups, not the web interface, but the
answer is still the same.

Hmm, seems strange to me that there is no way to, oh well. Thanks for
your help.

Is there any way to change the displayed email address on Usenet? I
have an email address just for spam and want to put that one in so my
good one doesn't get spam. Thanks

Sure. You don't even have to use a real E--mail address (the one I use
here is obviously not real).

How to do so depends on what newsreader program you use. I'm not
familiar with Mozilla and can't help with the specifics, other than to
say that wherever you put your real address, change it to whatever you
want.

If you mean on a previous post - No. If you mean from now on that's through
the options of whatever client you're using to post with.
