How to change powerpoint layout?

Hi all:
I have Powerpoint 2002 on a Win XP machine. My notebook has a wide
screen and I use Powerpoint slides for class. Nowadays many of the
classes I take are given in some way using Powerpoint. I can download
the slides to take to class so I can use the feature from Powerpoint to
add my own notes to the slides. What I would like to do is to take
advantage of my wide screen and have the "click to add notes" area to
one side (preferably the right side) instead of the slim rectangular box
at the bottom, which if if resize to make bigger it would then make my
current slide view way too small due to the nature of the wide screen.
What I would like to have is the slide previews to the left so I can
click and switch slides as the class moves along. The current slide at
the center of the screen. Then the "click to add notes" section to the
right so it is more visible. I looked around but I do not know how to do
it, is it possible at all with the version of Powerpoint I have? Thanks
in advance for the help.

Have you tried View, Notes Page?
If you don't like the default layout, you could change File, Page Setup and
make notes/handouts landscape instead of portrait then go to View, Master,
Notes Master and put the slide image off to one side, notes to the other.
