How to change a negative number listed as text to a number?

For example there is a spreadsheet that the software is exporting negative
numbers as such: 11- I need to be able to convert this to an actual
negative number. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Use the "Data/Text to Columns" wizard. There is an option to treat trailing
negative signs appropriately.
