hello,

i am using powerpoint 2003 on windows xp home edition. i want to
insert a picture on a blank slide, and then manipulate the size. how
can i center the picture after i am done resizing it? i assumed there
would be an easy way to do this but i am not finding it. thanx.

Select the image and go to Draw > Align. Click on "Relative to Slide" and then
click on Align Center and finally on Align Middle.

Select your picture. Go to the Draw menu (on the Draw toolbar) and choose
Align or Distribute and choose Relative to Slide. Now go to the Draw menu
and choose Align or Distribute and choose Center. Finally, go to the Draw
menu and choose Align or Distribute and choose Middle.

It is always better to resize your picture outside PP. It has to do with the
file size and picture resolution. If you instert your picture as bitmap you
have a huge file size and you will rarely need all the resolution that is in
the bitmap format. If you use the presentation for showing on a screen, you
do not need resolution higher than say 100 dpi. For printing you may wish to
go a bit higher, depending on the size of your final document.

You should resize your picture in e.g., Adobe PhotoShop or even MS
PhotoEditor. When you have it in the right size AND RESOLUTION save it as a
..jpg, go to PP click intert and select picture. Or, you can open the saved
..jpg file, copy it there, then go to PP, click edit, paste special, and
select picture. Then center it as Sonia has written.
