how to block javascript browser detection?

Install a privacy control such as Norton IS, McAfee and many others. Whether
it is worth it or not is debatable. There are also ways of "spoofing" the
browser information to misinform the website.
 
how many ways are there that you can spoof browser information the only
one I know is to change the user-agent in about:config in firefox

I have never done it IE; but why do you even need to do it anyway? I just
have Norton IS 2004 installed. You could try cross-posting to
microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general to see if anyone there knows how
to spoof the UA.
