How to AutoReply the True way

M

Mike

I can create .oft template for AutoReply when I receive
any email (but it only work on the Client pc's only,
which mean that my pc has to be on all the time.).
How can I make it so it will reply (Like Out of Office
AutoReply, so my pc does not have to be on).
Or do I need to send my .oft template to the Server for
it to send an AutoReply.
Please Help.

Are you using Exchange? Or are you using Internet mode for a .pst file?

If using Internet mode and a .pst file, you'll have to leave your
computer turned on, you'll have to remain logged in (although you can
use a screen saver to lockup your session, or use a shortcut with
"%windir%\system32\rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation" to lock it
up), and you'll have to leave Outlook loaded since obviously you are
trying to substitute Outlook as the mail server.

Check if your ISP's e-mail account has an auto-responder feature so you
can define your message for an auto-reply. If using Exchange, somone
else will have to help you. Been too long since I used Exchange - but
then it was deliberately configured to NOT reply to e-mails received
outside the organization. It is inappropriate to provide auto-replies
to spam, and it is often ill-advised to announce to customers that an
employee is away from work but no one was assigned to take over their
duties in the interim. Usually the auto-reply is configured in Exchange
to ONLY reply to internal e-mails.

.
Thanks Vanguard,
Yes, I'm using Exchange 2003.
Which means I have to config from the Server to send an
AutoReply whenever this email account received an email.
I have to do some digging on the server side to make this
work. (Otherwise I had to leave the a client pc's on all
the time.)
Thanks again.
