How to alphabetize separate columns in word

I would like to create several different columns in word and alphabetize them
seperately. I have tried with tables but can't isolate the columns.

Select one column. In the Table > Sort dialog, click the Options button. In
the Options dialog, check "Sort column only". Click OK in both dialogs. Only
the selected column will be sorted. Repeat for each of the other columns.
The option stays checked until you uncheck it, so you can skip that step
after the first time.
