How to add LPT ports in WinXP and . . . . .

I am trying to add LPT ports in WinXP, and have it work,
I have found some info on how to add LPT ports thru
Regedit for Win2k and Win2003, but when I add Two
parallel card and try and change the ports to the added
LPT ports I added, it still says there is only LPT1 to
LPT3 available, please help!
