If there is a page full of hundreds of numbers in atable or written each in a
line, how to select all numbers and let MS Word add decimal point after each
3 figures to release me from doint that manually?

You can do it with Find and Replace. Display the dialog, click More, tick
the 'Use Wildcards' checkbox.

to insert a decimal point after each three digits (is that really what you
want to do?): search for ([0-9]{3,3}) and replace with \1. If you actually
mean insert thousands separators, you'll want something along these lines
(you might need to experiment to get the patterns right) --

Search for: ([0-9])([0-9]{3,3})([!0-9])
Replace with: \1.\2\3

K

Search for: ([0-9])([0-9]{3,3})([!0-9])
Replace with: \1.\2\3

Since the numbers are in a table, you probably need to change that a little
bit to
Find what: ([0-9])([0-9]{3})>
Replace with: \1.\2

([!0-9] won't match the end-of-cell-marker... unfortunately!)

Good point ... then again, from the original post it doesn't necessarily
follow that the cells contain numbers ONLY ... I was assuming there was text
before and/or after the numbers.

Search for: ([0-9])([0-9]{3,3})([!0-9])
Replace with: \1.\2\3

Since the numbers are in a table, you probably need to change that a little
bit to
Find what: ([0-9])([0-9]{3})>
Replace with: \1.\2

([!0-9] won't match the end-of-cell-marker... unfortunately!)
