How to add a second OS modifying the boot.ini?

Hi,

On my HD, I have two OS:

First, I did install W2K Pro on a 10 GB partition (C)

Then, I installed W XP Pro on a second 20 GB partition (F)

When I start the PC, I get a black screen for 30 sec. and then Windows XP.
Of course, I'd like to get the choice, but reading the forum I only found
people that have the opposite issue, they want to get rid of the choice.
However, I'd like to know what is the exact command line I need to add to
the Boot.ini file to get the choice.

Hope you can help.
Thank you
Alex

Hi Rick,

Thanks for the suggestion.
I succeeded to get the booting list.

However, I have another question related to this.
I set 10 sec. as a time out, then the default system boots up, in my case
Window XP, but from the moment the 10 seconds expire, I have to wait 27 sec.
before I can actually see the xp booting windows, basically, after the 10
sec. my screen gets dark and then I can see the typical booting screen of XP.
(after 27 sec.)
I have AVAST antivirus installed.

Is there a reason for such a delay? How can I reduce it?

Thanks
Alex

Hi,

Boot the Recovery Console from the WinXP CD. From the command prompt run
bootcfg /rebuild or bootcfg /add

Hi,

Could be a delay in a network card waiting for an address assignment, it's
pretty common.
