How to add a circle (ring) to a slide.

When playing a slide show on PC created with PPT 2002 or 2003 I can use the
pointer to draw a circle around an screen element or point to various
elements on the slide. How can I create this effect permanently in a slide?
I would like it to simulate a chalk circle being drawn on a blackboard.
This action would be activated with a mouse click similar to adding lines of
text or objects. I don't just want it to show up but want to show it being
drawn.

You can use the "Wheel" entrance effect on a Circle (Oval AutoShape). select
1 Spoke for the effect. This shows the circle drawing itself nicely.
