Outlook has just started to sweep and empty my e-mail inboxes in Juno and
Comcast before I can read and delete or answer them. Messages are retained
in Outlook but I prefer to use my other e-mail programs as a default. How do
I stop this without removing Outlook? Thanks.

If you don't want Outlook to download the messages at all simply remove the
accounts from Outlook using the Control Panel's Mail applet.

Set the accounts to leave mail on the server. Tools, Accounts... check the
account properties.
