How much longer will Microsoft support Home and Student 2007?

Now that Windows 7 is becoming available, how much longer will Microsoft
support Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007? When will it be absolutely
necessary to upgrade to Windows 7?

It will probably be many years before it's absolutely necessary to upgrade
to Windows 7.

The support cycle for Office is irrelevant to the revision cycle for
Windows. That is, the release of Windows 7 has zero effect on support for
Office 2007. The release of Office 2010 will push Office 2007 back, but it
will still be supported till at least April 2012 (according to
http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/?p1=8753) and of course usable for
much longer than that. It will run on Windows 7 and probably on at least one
future version of Windows.
