Hi,
I remember DOS6, when it was
pretty easy to find malware.
Now it's ridiculous, how much
seems to be running in the background;
and only a tiny fraction of it, is
reported by "Task Manager".
I went from having a hard time
running a software modem, to the point,
now, where even a hardware modem is
disconnecting every few minutes.
I rebooted into safe mode, and ran
every spyware, and AV program, I've
got; did find one major processor hog,
but clearly there is more; still
hiding under the varnish.
Kids are lucky, nowadays; they
can start with Linux/open source, and
not get trapped in a situation where
the cost of software, has us
old-timers, using an operating system
that depends on people with un-knowable
motives, to keep it running.
