How many DAYS to SAVE a movie?

B

Bobby

sorry about the last aborted message ...

I can't seem to save this movie to a local disk.

It stops (or seems to stop) at 75%. Meanwhile,
the "Remaining Minutes" just creeps higher.

I chose the Best Quality setting and chjose a local drive
which has over 150Gb (gigabytes) free. This machine runs
XP Pro, has 2Gb RAM - a P4 2.2 and I'm using MovieMaker
2. All XP updates are ... up to date.

The movie project file CG.MSWMM is 2,478Kb.

I have to show this movie tomorrow (Tues 8/5) night, but
I can't save it.

Your help, suggestions, hints are truly needed.

Thanx for your time.

let me add ...
on the chance that a portion of the project file may be
corrupted at the 75% mark, I have cut and moved the clips
before, during and after the 75% mark to the end of the
project.

The SAVE still stalls out at 75%.

What I would do:
1. Remove unecessary hardware
2. Create a new partition and make an install just for video editing. Maybe
that's not a short term project but it's the closest to a guaranteed
solution. In the installation dialog select that you want to choose the
location/partition for the new install. Don't do any updates, unless you
need them
3.If it still doesn't work diable unecessary services using
http://www.blkviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm . I had a video only config
that had all services disabled except:

Automatic:
Cryptographic Services
Event Log
HID Input Service
Plug and Play
Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
Shell Hardware Detection
TabletService
Windows Audio
Windows Management Instrumentation
Workstation

Manual:
Application Management
Removable Storage
Windows Installer
Windows Management Instrumentation Driver Extensions

I would expect a fix to the software but is there any in
sight? I have the same problem in saving the video as DV-
AVI: it saves only about three fourths of the movie.

back to a DV Camera the video works fine. then just
transfer it back to your computer. Done, finito complete.
