How long should Fat->NTFS conversion take?

I purchased a copy of XP Home to install on a system
currently running Windows ME.

I plan to convert the drive from the FAT filesystem to
NTFS. How long should this process take? The drive is 20GB
with a little over 8GB in use.

Shouldn't take very long. About as long as it would take to format the
drive.

On the order of 10-20 minutes.

Defrag the drive first to make it faster and help ensure success.
