How good is the A8N SLI PREMIUM SOUND?

Does anyone like the onboard sound? I have not had any problems with it
yet, and I was thinking about whether it was worth it to invest in a
card. Thanks for the insight.

When I recently hooked up my new Logitech Z5500 speakers to the onboard
sound on my A8N SLI-Premium I was disappointed. The sound was very
mediocre. Then when I installed the Audigy 2Z ZS they suddently sounded
great -- the difference was night and day. If you have a decent set of
speakers I would say it's well worthwhile to put a decent sound card in your
system.

Just for the sake of discussion, I'll tell you that I've decided to
stay with the onboard sound. I'm neither a computer audiophile (I
have a good home theater system for that) nor an avid gamer, and for
my purposes the onboard sound is highly satisfactory.
If you are a gamer, you won't want the onboard sound hogging CPU
cycles, or if your computer is your main platform for playing CDs and
DVDs, then you could do better with the newest Audigy cards.

If you play games or listen to music, you would hear a Large difference if
you added a Creative Labs X-Fi audio card, compared to the onboard sound you
are using. And as a bonus you would take the audio data load off of your
CPU.
