How can I get my home PC with WindowsXP to boot up
straight through to desktop, instead of forcing me to plow
through an unwanted "Log On" Screen? Needlessly loading
my personal settings doubles my boot-up time. (Not sure
how she did it, but my wife somehow caused this to happen
after the first time she used my PC.)

Hi Gary,

1. Go to Start/Run and type in: control userpasswords2 and press ok.

2. On the Users tab, clear the Users Must Enter A User Name And Password To
Use This Computer check box and then click OK.

3. In the Automatically Log On dialog box that appears, type the user name
and password for the account you want to be logged on each time you start
your computer.

Tip:

Add Control UserPasswords2 to the Control Panel (Line 1)

.Thanks Kelly, but after following your instructions, a
pop-up window at boot always req'd me to delete my Owner
password to proceed. I finally stumbled around in Control
Panel>User Account, and manually removed Owner Password
there, and now everything is perfect! Your instructions
gave me the courage to experiment instead of trembling in
fear!>

Great, glad to hear it Gary! :o) Hope all goes well for you from here.
