How get Date on toolbar next to time?

Hi.

I know the date will come up if one hovers over time on the toolbar, but how
does one have date permanently on the toolbar next to the date?

After investigation, it seems the only way is to expand the toolbar by 3
lines. This is inconvenient as it takes up too much of the screen. C'est la
Vie.

I move my taskbar to the left side and make it about 1 inch
wide. You can set it to autohide if you really need the
space, but I find that it is height that is more important
than width. The full date and time shows.
