how does one retrieve prior saved word document in vista explorer

In XP explorer you could right click on the file, view the properties and
restore a previous version of the document as I recall. I no longer have XP
explorer, but that is what I recollect. In Vista explorer or Word 2007 I do
not see an option for opening up the previously saved version of the document.

If you have Word configured to automatically save backups then the backup is
the previously saved version.

The "previous versions" feature is known as "Shadow Copy". In Vista, it is
only available in the Business and Ultimate editions. So not in Home Basic
or Home Premium.
