how do you write a formula referencing a person's name not a row?

I am trying to gather and add numbers but the specific person's name does not
appear on the same row on each sheet. How can I write a formula to reference
an individual's name rather than a specific row?
 
Sounds like you may be able to use a SUMIF, but please provide some
sample data so we can see the layout.
