How do you turn off synchronization in Outlook 2003?

I am wondering how to turn off synchronization in Outlook 2003. I can't see
any reason to have synchronization active on a business desktop. This creates
delays and massive time delays when managing a group mailbox and the
synchronization process fails.

Synchronization has failed 3 times in one month for me and caused me to have
to go to 2 other PC's to verify what belonged there and what was already
taken care of.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cached mode is usually a good thing - it protects against network hiccups,
outages, etc. and can improve performance - if you have multiple users
accessing a shared mailbox, may be best to have them open their *own*
mailbox as the primary one and add the shared one as a secondary (which
can't be cached as it's not the primary mailbox). I haven't run into many
problems with cached mode, but I don't know what problems one might run into
with multiple users opening the same mailbox simultaneously w/cached mode.

Thanks for your input, but this did not answer my question. And as I stated
it is not improving performance but is causing a work slowdown.

To add a little more info, at the time of these problems, I was the only one
in the mailbox. How do I know? Being on 3rd shift at the time with no one
else logged into the system who has access to the mailbox. And yes, I can
tell who is logged on.

I need to find out how to turn synchronization off because it is a big time
waster for me in the processes I have to follow.

While everyone has an opinion on what is best, I am not interested in those
opinions. I need to find out how to turn it off. Call it personal preference
if you will but I'm just looking for an answer not opinions.

No insult intended to you or anyone else for answering my post. Just looking
for an answer to my question.

No insult taken - just offering my opinion. You can disable cached mode on a
per-profile basis; not sure how you can automate this in a rollout, though.
One of the profile generation tools may help....sorry I can't help any
further!
