How do you test the XP Transfer Wizard?

I have a corruption in my XP installation and I have to do a clean install.
I did one a long time ago and back then I (correctly) used the Files and
Settings Transfer wizard to back everything up for transfer to the "new
computer". It didn't work. Investigation revealed that it was corrupted.
Fortunately I had a double backup of my important files. All the same, I'd
sure like to use the Transfer Wizard if only it would work. After I store
the files and settings, how can I test them to make sure they're not
corrupted and will transfer to my "New Computer". (Actually my "new
computer" is an external hard drive.)

Any help would be much appreciated.

The correct procedure in your situation is to backup. The FAST is not the
same thing as a backup.

Thanks Ted.. I will back up everything, of course, as I did last time, but I
plan to use the files and transfer wizard in the first instance for ease of
installation. So my question remains: After you've saved the F & S transfer
files, how can you test the F & S transfer files to see if they will work
properly when you try to install them in the "new computer"?
