How do you sort list of invoice items by date?

I am preparing an invoice for professional services from items in a file that
are not ordered by date. I want to be able to start at the beginning of the
file and work to the end (instead of having to place the items in
chronological order "by hand." Once all the items from the file are entered,
I want to be able to press a button (or something like that) and then see the
list items in chronological order. If you will be kind enough to tell me how
to do this, please be complete. I have a low level of computer skills. Thx.

PS: How do I access replies to my question?

If the date is the first thing in each paragraph, or if the items are in a
table with the dates in a separate column, you can use Table | Sort | By
Date.

From your post it's hard to tell whether the invoice items are already
listed in a Word doc or whether you are intending to create such a list...

As others have quite accurately suggested, you can easily sort the list in a
Word doc *If* the doc is constructed properly. Especially if you are unsure
of how to do so and you _are_ creating the list you might want to consider
doing it in Excel rather than Word. If you're not familiar with Excel it
will still be easier for creating a simple list - the columns & rows are
already made for you:) The guidelines are available here - click the How
button for item #1:

Don't worry about the "mail merge" references - setting up the list is the
same regardless of how you intend to use it. Once you create the list & type
the entries just click in the Invoice # column then click the A-Z (Ascending
Sort) button on the Standard toolbar.
