how do you remove write protection from a floppy?

i went to save an msword file only to get a window that said that the disk
was write protected. i did not protect it. any ideas of how to remove it?

If you're actually saving this on a floppy, then there's normally a
little tab on the disk itself that switches between locked and unlocked
positions.
