How do you permanently set the columns in the Inbox View?

I want to delete a column in the Inbox view of MS Outlook 2007 and have it
remain deleted. When I delete the column now, it reappears if I switch to
folder and then switch back to Inbox.

Thanks,

Jeff

Right click on the column header, select Field Chooser and remove the
unwanted column header. Note that I have 2003 so if this has changed in 2007,
look up Field Chooser in Help.

Hi Mary,

Thanks for your response. When I select Field Chooser and select the column
I wish to delete, the delete button at the bottom of the Field Chooser
dialogue box is grayed out.

I guess the other thing that is different in MS Outlook 2007 is the help
section. It really is poor. I have spent several hours looking through this
newly formated and organized help system to no avail. I also refuse to pay
$49 to Microsoft to answer a simple question like this.

Jeff

Either reset the view or create a custom view with all the columns except the
one you don't want.

Hi Jocelyn,

I will try creating a custom view, but it seems like I should be able to
permanenlty modify the standards inbox view.

Jeff

That's why I also suggested resetting the default view, in case somehow it
got messed up; after it's reset, the changes you make might stick. You can
also try running Outlook once with the /cleanviews switch -- the good part is
it should fix any problems with the default views, but the bad part is any
custom views you created will be gone.
