How do you open a .mde file to get to the forms, code, etc

I know there is some key combo <CNTL><ENTER> or something like that, but I
can't seem to find it.

you don't. the code has been removed from an mde file, and you cannot view
or change forms, reports, VBA modules. that's the purpose of creating an mde
file from a "master" mdb file - to help protect the structure (though it
does nothing to protect the data).

and no, you can't change an mde file back into an mdb file.
