Do you wish to move all files & folders? If so then you can do it with
Explorer, or with xcopy.exe / robocopy.exe from a Command Prompt.

Peter

You cannot move a partition from one drive to another. You can move the
contents of a partition.

Hope this helps.

You cannot move a partition from one drive to another. You can move the
contents of a partition.

Or you could use a third party partition manager.
I use EASEUS Partition manager (www.partition-tool.com)
Under the Wizards you can copy a partition or copy a disk.
The home edition is free

Bad guess. Acronis can't clone a partition.

Not a guess, as a glance through the interface tells you.

It definitely can clone both disks and partitions.

I feel like such a freaking DUMMY! I've never looked for partition
cloning as I used "Automatic" and have only cloned an entire disk.

I see it now that I used a multi-partitioned disk as the source and
chose to manually set things.

Thanks to you and the other poster for setting me straight.

Statements about what Acronis can or can't do are likely to almost
always be wrong, for the simple reason that Acronis is not the name of
a program.

Acronis is the name of a company, and it's a company which makes
several different software products, each of which does different
things.

Thanks for posting back concerning Acronis True Image...

I assure you I have made my share of errors

Has anyone ever told you that you can be a really pompous ass at
times?

Actually, it IS a bit confusing, as Acronis has several related products,
and I'm not sure which one he was talking about. True Image? Disk
Director? Or something else?

From what I've seen, you are easily confused.

I know that Seagate has a copy of Acronis called the Discwizard which
can backup a partition but cannot clone. But you can always restore
that partition to another drive.

But not as full-featured, as I recall. (I wouldn't call it "better",
unless the sole criterion is cost).

You talking about what you're read on the Internet again, or from
experience?

I visited their website and read all about it, because I was almost
convinced to add it to my arsenal of tools over here, but it only has a
subset of some other features in Partition Magic.

If you really want to know more about it, go over to their web site and read
all about it. Still, for a freebie, it probably can't be beat. And yes, I
have experience with Partition Magic.

I was talking about EASEUS. Whatever.
