how do you know the version of XP?

downloads specifies three versions of XP ...
i know i don't have 2003, but how do i know if it's 64bit?

Is that just another name for Pro?

Hi

You can find out which version of XP you are using:

Start>Run - then type in "winver" - without the quotes.

You can out if you 32/64-bit Windows:

From a command prompt type "systeminfo" - without the quotes. Look for 'System Type:' - X86 = 32-bit.

You have the 32 bit version, 90-98% of the W XP are 32 bit.
You'd know because the 64 bit OS runs on computers that cost
in the $10,000 and UP price range without any software.

Just to be sure, you can open Windows Explorer and click on
help/about and see what it says.

No, the 64 bit version is actually called:
Windows XP 64-Bit Edition

64 bit is for running on machines using the very expensive Intel Itanium
64 bit CPU - you have 32 bit.

Home and Pro will use the same 32 bit versions of any of these patches
